Vigor2620Ln admin user change was created by timo_w2s
I'm just setting up a new Vigor2620Ln router but I'd like to change the administrator login for the web interface from "admin" to something less obvious. I could do this on my Vigor2860n so I'm surprised it's not an option on the 2620Ln. I also can't see an option to enable Validation Code too for extra security.

On the other hand, maybe I'll leave the web interface only available accessible local/VPN users.

That particular model doesn't have all of the multiple admin accounts that the bigger routers like the Vigor 2862 have.

Thanks for the reply, I forgot this wasn't quite as fancy as the 28x range.

However, I already have the option to select these choices for management:
Allow management from the Internet
Allow management from LAN

So I assume if I untick the "management from the Internet" section I could still VPN in and access the control panel from the LAN side as I do with the 2860 series routers I use, which is probably the best option anyway security wise.

That's correct, you can lock down management access to local only and then just use VPN :)

Changing the username doesn't make it any more secure; it's the passwordd, of adequate length that provides the security.
A username and password is not 2FA.
