VLAN Printer Sharing

Port 1 : 4 Computers (via unmanaged switch)
Port 2 : 3 Computers (via unmanaged switch)
Port 3 : 2 Computers (via unmanaged switch)
Port 4 : Printers, Scanners & Storage (via unmanaged switch)

LAN 1 : 192.168.1.1
LAN 2 : 192.168.2.1
LAN 3 : 192.168.3.1
LAN 4 : 192.168.4.1

We need Computers on Port 1 and Port 3 to share Printers & Storage Devices connected on Port 4.
Need help with with setting up VLAN and inter-LAN routing.

See Page 119-120 of the Vigor 2830 User Guide.


  • Set up your Lan IP addresses

  • Turn on Vlan - assign ports + subnet to required VLANs

  • In the Inter-LAN Routing section, tick the boxes in the matrix, to allow LANs 1,3 & 4 to communicate

  • Possibly, set up some firewall rules, so that only printing-related traffic can flow between network. (Protocol dependent)
