Draytek 2860LN - Routing By Domain Name was created by blufield
Firmware 3.8.9.8

Hi,

I have setup a routing policy to route to a specific domain name via a VPN connection. The policy works when testing using tracert route on a Windows pc, but not when using a browser on the same machine or any other machine
Anyone experiencing the same issue?

I use the hostname policy route for some sites (though I haven't in recent weeks), and it's worked when I've used it. When I've set just a couple of hostnames that's worked, but those are comparatively simple and self contained sites.

It's possible that parts of the page are loading through a CDN / other hostname in the background. To check that, on your PC use Wireshark when loading that page and filter for "dns", or alternatively look at syslog for DNS entries for that PC when accessing the site.

Developer tools in the browser has a similar thing where the network tab's Domain column shows which domains a page is using to load. For instance if I go to www.bbc.co.uk, it loads up up a lot of the images from sub-domains of "bbci.co.uk".

The sites I am using are probably using CDN.

Thanks

Its a shame it doesnt use wildcards, now that would be useful.
