Good evening,

We have a a Virgin lease line that we currently connect to a 2862 via the wan port, the virgin router brings the internet in and the wan port is configured with one of our public ip's and is the DG for our lan

If i add another 2862 in for High availability and share the same wan link in hot standby mode what do i need to do to achieve this?

Article i saw said i plug the ISP link (virgin router) into a switch and then both 2862 wan links into the switch.

Does it need to be a draytek switch or can i use our exisiting cisco swicth?

Do i need to do anything different with the WAN config, or do i still set it with one of our public ip's as it is now as a single unit?

Thanks for any assistance in advance

Zach

Isn't high availability and virgin media a conflict of terms.

I have never done HA with Draytek routers but yes from my understanding you need a switch in front of the routers. The issue then is that you have another single point of failure with the switch so ideally you need two switches with each Draytek plugged into each switch. I have no idea how you configure/setup this but I understand the concept.
