Draytek Vigor 2860 with 4G USB Modem was created by turbotim
Hi Guys,
I currently have a Draytek Vigor 2860 and have plugged in a Huawei E3276s-150 USB 4G modem stick (WAN3).

I have a Vodafone 4G Unlimited data SIM card in the USB stick and it works perfectly to provide internet when I configure the USB as DHCP.

Unfortunately in DHCP mode I cannot use DDNS as you do not get issued an external IP address, I have tried to configure the USB modem to use PPP mode but it just will not connect to the internet this way.

Vodafone instructed me to use the following settings:

APN: internet
Phone number: *99#
User name: web
Password: web

This has made no difference at all, it just will not connect.

Has anybody managed to successfully setup a 4G USB stick on a Draytek router to connect to the internet and get issued an external IP address please?

Thanks

Does your SIM deal actually provide a public IP address? - it's probably using CGNAT

If no, you might be able to find one that does: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Fixed+IP+address+4G+SIM&ie=UTF-8&oe=

or maybe a different approach altogether: https://ngrok.com/product

Hi Hornbyp,
Yes the SIM does provide a public IP address when I take out the Huawei E3276s-150 USB 4G modem stick from the Draytek router and plug it into a laptop USB port.
