Release Schedule was created by nickul
My trusty old Vigor 2850 has done sterling service over the last ten years but it time for an upgrade.

When I bought it, little did I know that about a month later Draytek released the 2860....

So I'm considering a 2866AX. Is anybody aware if draytek publish, or follow a known release schedule, i.e. are they on the cusp of releasing the next model this spring/summer?

thanks

Nick

The 2865/2866 has been out for quite a while now. Ofcourse something will be coming next but there's been no announcements. I've always had a positive experience emailing the Sales team at Draytek UK about imminently released products so try them.

FWIW, the 2865/66 will perform at gigabit speeds for WAN connectivity except for some (most?) VPN connections. I find IKEv2 connections capped at 160Mb/s (ish) except IPSec connections that don't use NAT-T as these are accelerated.

Do you need more than that?

No I don't need those speeds for the VPNs, but the 2850 firewall throughput is limiting my broadband, at 100Mbps down and about 70 up, a new model should sort that. Interestingly if I switch the data monitor on it slows down a bit more, i.e. down to 80 ish.

Looking through the newsroom on the .com site, gives the following, (bit tricky to get the exact laucnh date in some cases) , for the 28 series;

Model Launch
2866 29/09/21
2865 15/01/20
2862 07/06/17
2860 07/10/13

Not strictly relevant, but I went from the 2862 to the 2927.

The 2927 had much greater throughput, but unfortunately had to be returned as LAN DNS did not work properly.

Therefore a 2850 to 2866, you should see a considerable improvement.
