How to flash firmware from Wifi PC or the internet was created by lorian
You can upgrade the firmware on your router (I know it works on a 2700 and 2800) using FTP. This is useful when the router is remote on the internet, or you are connected locally using a wifi device
Here is a transcript from a session so you can see what happens.
Use at you own risk , but if you have no wired devices or you are miles away (as I often am) sometimes it's the only way:
First of all tick "enable remote firmware upgrade (FTP)" in the GUI Management screen.
Then download the firmware, unpack it and note the name of the .all file. you MUST NOT use the .rst file for this method.

Works OK too on a 2600VG (over WiFi).

Hi Lorian, thanks for this. I was going to post the same question (as I run a *nix shop at home)
Will try tonight and post back on 2950 results
Cheers

The TFTP method for Firmware Upgrade continually gave the "Request Timeout" abort message.
The FTP method worked first time (save for the router not re-booting automatically - I had to power off/on).
So thanks for the method.

Glad it worked for you. strange it didn't reboot though. normally does as soon as you say quit.
