2910 and 3G USB modem was created by brickcounter
Has anyone got a 3G USB data modem working with a 2910.
I upgraded the firmware to 3.0.6 and followed the instructions here:
http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb_vigor_3g.html
I am using a Huawei E220 supplied by Vodafone not T-mobile as in the example. But no joy, it will not connect.

I've seen it work on T-mobile and Vodafone with a generic E220 and a badged one from T-mobile. You need to turn the router off and back on again once you have set the router up correctly then wait for the LED to go bluish-green (not blue and not green and not flashing)

I am using an E220 but with a vodafone badge on the front.
I get flickering green and then flickering blue. No solid colour.
The wan2 status page just cycles between PPP starting and PPP shutdown.
I wonder if vodafone have tweaked their branded device somehow then?
The E220 works fine when plugged straight into a laptop.

Wow, that post was two years ago! Yes , we use them all the time now. You need to set the APN to 'internet' which is the vodafone specific setting

Further to my reply it is now working.
I orginally had the settings on the dongle to connect automatically and had manually entered the settings for the apn etc through the VMCLite software.
I also changed (whilst plugged into the laptop) to start connection manually and get apn settings automatically. Not sure if this made a difference or not.
Ensured that the settings on the router were:
Modem Initial string APN:Internet
Modem dial string: ATDT*99#
ppp username: web
ppp password: web
Plugged the dongle into the router, did not power cycle and it connected the PPP connected automatically.
Yipppeeeee
only 12 hours or so to get it working
