Vigorswitch P2260 was created by markaut
I've just obtained one of these second hand. Problem is I cannot find a way in to configure it. I assume my network settings are not right.

Do I need to plug a serial cable in the back and do it from there? - Any guidance on how to proceed would be appreciated.

thanks.

If the switch is not picking up an ip address via dhcp, you may have to reset it to the factory defaults. You can certainly do this via the serial console port, during the switch's boot up phase.
It may also be possible to do this by powering up the switch whilst holding the reset button, using a paper clip in the reset 'hole' on the front panel.

regards

Colin

thanks, I'm in on the serial, luckily I found a null modem as my serial cable turned out to be wired pin to pin.

This is now a new world of not knowing what I'm doing! :-)

I'm in the IP menu, but I can't change the IP address and Gateway to something relevant to my network.

Current settings are:
DHCP : Disable␍␊
IP Address : 192.168.100.254␍␊
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0␍␊
Gateway : 192.168.100.1␍␊
Current IP Address : 192.168.100.254␍␊
Current Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0␍␊
Current Gateway : 192.168.100.1␍␊
DNS Setting : Manual␍␊
DNS Server : 0.0.0.0␍␊

Currently my network is in the range 192.168.0.xx, so I believe I need to change my IP address and gateway to suite. but I can't seem to change the gateway, and when I set the IP address it tells me that the gateway doesn't match.
Is there a way to get it to pull the settings automatically from my network? I assume that this needs to be right before I can log in via the web interface. Currently http://192.168.100.254 just times out.

AHA! fixed it. Factory reset seemingly didn't take the first time. Second attempt it worked.

I'm in now.

Brief update if anyone is in a similar situation with these switches.

You need a standard null modem 9 pin serial cable. Using a USB to serial converter works.
Make sure the baud rate is correct, otherwise it doesn't work.

On connection you will be prompted for username and password.... admin / admin.
The magic key is then "?"..... this will get you to the help menu, and it is relatively self explanatory from there. Do remember however that you have to save the settings before you exit. I found that I had to log out, then back in again to make sure that the settings had taken.
