I have recently setup a lan to lan VPN between a Vigor 2800G (server side) and Netgear DG834G (client side). I'm not sure of the differences between the 2800 and 2820 but I'm happy to post what I've done if that helps any?

Best regards,

Andy.

Hi Andy,

That would be very helpful.

Thanks

Server side (Vigor 2800G) (192.168.2.x)

1. IPSEC General Setup - type in a Pre-Shared key
2. In Lan to Lan Setup
a) give the profile a name and enable it
b) set the call direction to dial-in
c) setup section 4 with my wan ip, the remote gateway (192.168.1.1) and network ip (192.168.1.0) network mask 255.255.255.0
d) everything else left as default.

Client side (Netgear DG834G) (192.168.1.x)

1. VPN Wizard
a) enter policy name and the pre-shared key typed in for the 2800G.
b) tick connect to a remote VPN gateway and click next
c) type in the remote WAN ip address (of the 2800G network)
d) type in remote IP address (192.168.2.1 and 255.255.255.0 subnet mask)
e) click done.

Shortly the two routers connect and you can ping one network from the other.

This seems to work fine. I tried this before (about 6 months ago) and couldn't get anywhere so the Draytek has sat in a cupboard ever since. We had a need to set up a VLAN so we had to get it out again and have another go. Seems fine now.

Let me know if you have specific setting queries and I can tell you what they are set to on my system.

Best regards,

Andy.
