Lan to Lan was created by chris sbs
Hi,

I have a Lan to Lan (PPTP) setup to dial out from a 2910 to a 2600, it will connect fine, but will not stay up beyond a couple of minutes, at its worst, no longer than 30 seconds.

The dial out side is set to remain "Always On" and the connection on both sides is stable.

What is the best way to diagnose the cause?

Regards

Humm, 30 seconds seems quite short (so I wonder if there is a connectivity issue between the two sites). However, something I'd always suggest as a generic suggestion for this type symtom (VPN disconnect) is check the dial-in side's idle timeout.

If the dial-in side is set to 300 seconds you will find that it disconnect every 300 seconds - even if the dial-out side is set to always on.

So, set the dial-in end idle timeout to 0 seconds.

Try enabling ping on both routers and see if you have consistant ping replies when pinging the public IP of one router from the other site. That's a good way of ruling out site-to-site connectivity issues.
