I have been trying to set up a basic PPTP VPN connection from a Vigor 2710n (Wireless) ADSL router at a remote user site to a Vigor 2800 series router at the office.
I finally got it to work by entering "vpn remote PPTP on" from a telnet session to the remote router. This doesn't seem right and the PPTP service is disabled again if you reboot the router. I have previously set up other VPN connections to the 2800 router from 2800 and 2600 series routers and from a 2710 (wired) router without any problem from the graphical interface. I note that the other 2710 router does not have the telnet 'vpn remote' option. Do I have the wrong firmware perhaps? The router has version 3.3.0.1 (Aug 21 2009), the ADSL firmware version is 211801_A, hardware Annex A.
