Hi all,

We've got an ongoing issue with our Vigor 2955 - SSL VPN connections are being dropped randomly, on a daily basis.

We have two sites in the US using the SSL VPN to access a web service on our UK lan. They keep getting kicked off the VPN and have to reconnect.

From the logs, we can see that when a drop happens, it usually affects ALL users, in both US sites (1 east coast, 1 west coast), implying it's the 2955 doing the connection drop.

I distinguish a valid connection termination by the following syslog output:
  • ID SyslogTime OriginalTime Facility Severity SyslogHost OriginalHost Process Message
    117019 27/01/2011 17:32:38 Jan 27
17:32:40 local0 Alert 10.0.0.11 10.0.0.11 Vigor PPP Drop VPN : Remote Dial-in Profile Index = 10, Name = use_vr
117017 27/01/2011 17:32:38 Jan 27 17:32:40 local0 Alert 10.0.0.11 10.0.0.11 Vigor PPP Closed : Remote Terminating (VPN- Remote Dial-in Profile index = 10, Name = use_vr, ifno=7)

And invalid or unexplainable drops as this syslog output:
  • ID SyslogTime OriginalTime Facility Severity SyslogHost OriginalHost Process Message
    116141 27/01/2011 16:41:19 Jan 27
16:41:26 local0 Alert 10.0.0.11 10.0.0.11 Vigor PPP Drop VPN : Remote Dial-in Profile Index = 4, Name = usw_ek
116139 27/01/2011 16:41:19 Jan 27 16:41:26 local0 Alert 10.0.0.11 10.0.0.11 Vigor PPP Drop VPN : Remote Dial-in Profile Index = 16, Name = usw_bl
116137 27/01/2011 16:41:19 Jan 27 16:41:26 local0 Alert 10.0.0.11 10.0.0.11 Vigor PPP Drop VPN : Remote Dial-in Profile Index = 10, Name = use_vr
116135 27/01/2011 16:41:19 Jan 27 16:41:26 local0 Alert 10.0.0.11 10.0.0.11 Vigor PPP Drop VPN : Remote Dial-in Profile Index = 14, Name = use_ma
116133 27/01/2011 16:41:19 Jan 27 16:41:26 local0 Alert 10.0.0.11 10.0.0.11 Vigor PPP Drop VPN : Remote Dial-in Profile Index = 8, Name = use_ld

Note, no 'PPP Closed' - just 'Drop VPN' - all users simultaneously kicked off.

Can anyone shed on light on what these drops are caused by, or what I could be checking to trace the problem?

Thanks.
