2820 VPN Port Priority was created by thekingster
Hi there

I have a bit of an urgent issue and need some help.

I have a client with a site to site vpn conencted with 2 draytek 2820's using IPSec. I want to prioritise port 3389 down this VPN as sometimes when they send an email using Exchange over the VPN, it drops their TS session. Can someone please advise?

I basically need port 3389 to override everything, it is top of the chain as it is business critical.

Thanks

D

Have you tried enabling QoS on both 2820's and setting a service priority for port 3389 (both incoming / outgoing)?

Does QoS work through the VPN or does it only apply to the WAN connection? If it is WAN only all you can do is prioritise IPSec on UDP:500.

I was having similar problems when using Exchange and RDP, fixed by increasing the UDP flood value to 1500 in the router firewall.

Hi NJH,

QoS is possible over a VPN, we have a couple of Cisco ASA/PIX devices which are configured to prioritise VoIP over an IPSec VPN.

When reading these posts late at night, sometimes I forget that not all the featuresets are available on the DrayTeks, and focus more on the actual technical possiblities.

Yes, my answer was specific to the DrayTek implementation of QoS.
