Unable to see the network via VPN was created by moore_m
Hi Draytek Users & Resellers / Support Engineers

I've resently setup a Draytek 2930 router for teleworkers to connect via SSL VPN all seems to work fine connecting without any problems , but what i'm finding is that no one is able to browes the network via My Network Places all they see is the computer that they are connecting from , but if they GOTO . Start >RUN
and and aplly a path via IP Address to a machine ie \\192.168.1.10 they will then get the windows login dialog box , but if anyone tries to UNC \\Server ( for example ) they are unable to connect , would there be any reason why they cant also see the remote PC / Server in My Network Places in windows XP Pro or Network in Windows 7 or unable to UNC from START> Run> \\Server ??

Any fed back would be appreciated ..

Hope I've made Sense

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that kc , is there anyway this can be resolved as this is only a small peer 2 peer network which doesn't have a DNS Server ..remote Users are connecting onto the Vigor 2930 via SSL VPN which is connected to an ADSL modem ..

If you check the "use default gateway for remote network" in the VPN profile, and, wait for about 1 minute, it is possible that you are able to see the remote Computers.

Another option:
the "lmhosts" file.
This is located in "%windir%\system32\drivers\etc"
there is a sample file called: lmhosts.sam
copy the sample file to "lmhosts"
open it with a text editor (notepad)
you should be able to understand the syntax by reading the sample file.
add entries for the remote computers. Save the file.
reboot the computer.
Afterwards even if browsing the network is not possible, the name resolution should work.
So, if you have a shortcut like \\myPC\share on your desktop this should be accessible through the VPN.
