VPN PPTP suddenly stops responding?

Hi,

I have used PPTP VPN every day for the past 2 years, from my Mac and iPhone 4. 2 days ago, this stoppped working.
I have chedked the following:
- my dyndns.org address is updated and correct
- pptp configuration enbaled on the router
- port 1723 open to the outside world
- rebooted the router

That is as much as my knowledge will allow me to check.. :D

Symptoms are that the VPN server doesn't respond at all, both clients stay stuck at the "Connecting" state, as if the VPN server has died.
I did try to look through the logs with telnet but I realised this was equivalent to try to tell my mother how to email attachments... Not much chance.

I can only think that a setting has flipped somehwere as I do not remember changing anything

Anybody has any suggestion how to proceed further?
