VPN - Restrict incoming IP? was created by wywywywy
Hi all,
Basically I have setup VPN on my 2820n, with a remote client using Win 7 (built in VPN client), and everything works fine.
But I would like to restrict access to that one client only for security reasons, by means of IP addresses, as the client has a static IP. However, I must have really overlooked something - I can't see an option anywhere in the administration to restrict VPN access by IP?
Anyone knows how do I go about doing that please?
Thanks.

Do you mean that you want only that user's IP address to be able to connect to that VPN or do you mean you want to lock down what they can access on your local network?
The first one is easy enough, just tick Specify Remote Node and put in their static IP address. That way only that IP will get a response when trying to connect the VPN.
If you want to lock down what they can get to on the local network you would need to use filter rules but re-reading your post it looks like it's just that you want to lock down the IP that can connect the VPN.

Thanks for the reply.
It is the first one I mean ("only that user's IP address to be able to connect to that VPN").
But, instead of a single IP, can I specify a range of IPs?
Thank you.

It's not possible to set a range of IPs, just a single IP when specifying that way.
