Ah my mistake,
Local network is 192.168.8.0/24

nobody! It's up!
I think the issue was at the Service Provider's side.
I asked them to confirm the details and they said they had the correct ones but I think they hadn't entered them quite right. Got a reply saying
they can ping from their end, and all of a sudden mine started working.
