mapped drive from dial in VPN was created by cabot
Hi all i have a site to site VPN that works fine using IPSEC i also have several dial in users that remote in from time to time all VPN connections need access to the network shares on our server, the site to site have no problem but the dial in users are not able to connect to the shares, i think it may be an issue on the server but need to confirm that dial in users would have the same access as site to site?

What are the problems ?
are the shares not found or do you have problems authenticating against the server ?

if you try:
\\192.168.x.y\sharename
will that work or not ? Or, if not, what happens ?

We are having this same problem. Yes we can connect using the system IP address but not by computer name. Some of our computers are on DHCP allocated addresses so this will not work for all shares.

Has any one found a solution to this?...
I have a very simular issue and it is because the VPN connection isn't passing a DNS suffix to the PPTP/IPsec adapter...
If you put in your local domain name in the DNS Suffix / Search Domain settings you can access the server fine...??
