MessagePal broadcast over VPN was created by saitech
Hi,

I have a client with a VPN link between 2 Draytek 2830 routers, the client wishes to use a instant messaging utility called MessagePal. I have been told that I need to enable the forwarding of port 8473 UDP packets, this is what MessagePal support say..

MessagePal relies in part on 'UDP broadcasts' over port 8473 to communicate status between MessagePal clients. In order to make MessagePal work over your VPN link, you need to enable the forwarding of port 8473 UDP broadcast packets through the routers on each side of the VPN.

I have no idea how to do this, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Mike.

Since they've said broadcast, it seems that you'll need to enable Multicast via VPN for the VPN profiles on both of the routers, that may work?
