Lan-2-Lan vpn 2830 Issues was created by layer7itsolutions
Hi all,

simple lan-2-lan PPTP vpn configured with each 2830n running identical firmware and static single WAN IPs.

Site A 192.168.6.0 / 24
Site B 192.168.5.0 / 24

Draytek LAN .254

Site A set to Dial In
Site B set to Always On

VPN establishes no problem.

Site B can ping everything on Site A, and open up shares \\192.168.6.x\sharename

Site A can only ping Site B router .254 address and nothing else on Site B subnet

Any ideas?

Probably a firewall somewhere on the .5.0 network. Either the firewall section of the router itself, a server/firewall hardware filter or softwaree based firewall filter on the devices youre trying to access.

Windows firewall is a prime culprit for this kind of behaviour, its default action is to block traffic destined to locations outside of its own local subnet (ie, the other end of the VPN connection).

PPTP is a bit poor - IPsec would be better

I'm sure from looking at existing posts there is a beta firmware which improves the VPNs on the 2830s - please raise a ticket directly with support.
