Dial In VPN (windows 7 not working) was created by sparky-steve
Hello,
I've been a draytek user for many years, but recently (last week) upgraded a few units to the 2830n.
One of the first things I did was to set up dial-in VPN, just like I have many times before; However, I could not connect to it using my desktop (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit). I tried many different configurations over a few days, and got nothing at all.
I have today tried from two other machines (Vista Business, and XP Pro), and both will connect instantly, no problem.
I have searched but cant find any similar problems.
It is the same on two units (one is running firmware 3.3.7_232201 and the other is running firmware 3.3.7.1_sb_2471201
Has anyone else had or heard of any problems, and any work arounds?
Many thanks
Steve

Do you need to update the Smart VPN program?

The XP & Vista computers are using the native PPTP dial up utility built into the O/S.
But I have tried the SmartVPN client on Windows 7 as well as native and neither connected.
I used the version I downloaded from this website, so I would assume it's the latest available.

I'm having the same issue, is there any answer to this. I can connect fine through XP VPN, but not through a windows 7 64 bit, either through built in or the smart VPN client.

For me, the issue was that I use my own custom built linux firewall, and I didn't have the PPTP connection tracking module installed.
fixed my issued. (Run that command as root / with sudo).
Of course, if you do not run a linux firewall, I am unable to help - sorry.

Code:
modprobe nf_nat_pptp
fixed my issued. (Run that command as root / with sudo).
