VPN LAN to LAN using BT Infinity was created by spaceboyo
Hi All

Just had BT infinity installed and all up and running with my new 2850

The 2850 is replacing an aging 2820 that has been working well for years.

On 2820 I had a LAN to LAN VPN Tunnel setup, worked fine over ADSL because I had static ip addresses.

My BT Infinity also has static ip addresses, allocated through WAN Alias, but when I try and setup VPN LAN to LAN Tunnel it's using the dynamic ip address that the BT network assigns it.

Question is can I get LAN to LAN to use one of my static addresses? If so how do I tell the router to do that.

At present tunnel is all working, but everytime I get a new dynamic ip I have to log into router in office and update the ip address of the router at home, frustrating!

Thanks in advance

My personal of BT Static addresses is not great and I have always faired better when having a single static address and it might be worth asking BT to have just one address.

The other alternative is to use a free DNS service. If you use the DNS service this will update when the IP does change and your VPN should still work.
