Hi folks, hoping some kind person can share some smarts :)

I have both a Vigor 2820 and 2830 series router, both of which are updated to the latest firmware releases (3.3.7.3_232201 and 3.6.4_db_232201 respectively). I've tried setting up both routers as clients to a (L2TP over IPSec) VPN service so that all clients on the LAN side of the router connect through the VPN to access the Internet. Every attempt is met with no connection.

This is a screenshot of my last attempt (click to enlarge);

I've tried toggling pretty much every option on that page, including changing IPSEC methods (auto or aggressive, encryption algos and bits etc), enabling a dial-in account just in case, NAT / Router mode, RIP direction, GRE settings, VJ Compression, Local ID etc. I simply cannot get it to connect and its driving me nuts, yet any client behind the router can connect. It's also worth noting that whilst testing a). the data filter is disabled as is DOS protection and b). "Change default route" is disabled temporarily until I'm confident the VPN is stable.

I went as far as to set up a syslog server on a nearby Mac and get the following when attempting to connect;

Code:
Aug 21 08:28:47 Vigor: Dialing Node1 (VPN) [4294967295] : Aug 21 08:28:47 Vigor: Unknown[4294967295] : Initiating IKE Main Mode to VPNIPADDRESS Aug 21 08:28:47 Vigor: Unknown[4294967295] : IKE ==>, Next Payload=ISAKMP_NEXT_SA, Exchange Type = 0x2, Message ID = 0x0 Aug 21 08:29:00 Vigor: PPP Drop VPN [4294967295] : Dial-out Profile Index = 1, Name = VPN Aug 21 08:29:00 Vigor: [0] : VPN]

Hoping someone can help, please? :)

Kind regards,
Jay
