Vigor 2830 To Vigor 2830 VPN was created by rusty107
Hi

Not sure what has happened however, I initially installed a VPN between two of our offices using the VPN Client & VPN Server wizards.

I may have forgotton to enable the idle timeout to 0 and looks like I cannot get the VPN to re-establish? I have tried setting up a new LAN to LAN profile using the FAQ's here however, both routers show status as offline?

I can connect to both via Remote Dial-in Users without issue?

Can anyone please helps as I really need to get these two LAN's to share data?

Many thanks & kind regards

Rusty

Have you got static IP addresses at both endpoints from your ISP(s)?

If not, this could be why the VPN initially connected and has then disconnected because the IP address has changed. If they are both static IP's, check the settings in the LAN-to-LAN profile at each end are the same in terms of IPSEC settings and shared keys etc.

Hi, many thanks for the reply.

Both offices do indeed have fixed IP's so no idea why as I can remote in using Remote Dial-in User???

Ok so you need to look at the LAN-to-LAN profiles at each end. You say you've changed the idle timeout to 0 which then changes the direction of the tunnel to dial-out only. Try changing it back to Both (on both ends) and see if it reconnects.

You need to do some investigation into the logs then to find out where it is failing. Under Diagnostics > Syslog Explorer, click enable and choose VPN. Then try to establish the VPN by sending some traffic to the other end. Refresh the log and post the entries back here.
