USA to UK issues was created by jamescodefour
Hi, we have a 2960 in the UK on a 50MB leased line. All works well and the users access a NAS drive via IP address through this VPN. The UK users VPN in just fine and speeds are great.

We have some users in New York who find accessing it terrible. They are on a good fibre connection (150MB up and down) - they PPTP VPN in via their laptops. Accessing the NAS is appalling - very very slow. Is this a latency issue? We have tested these guys working from home, the office and cafes (to rule out the office internet issue)

A LAN Speed test shows they get 2Mbps upload to the NAS and around 5Mbps download to it. The UK home user on much slower FTTC or ADSL get around 6Mbps upload and 20Mbps download to the NAS

any ideas?

Try SSL VPN and see whether it is better for one user to rule out issues with PPTP VPN.

I very successfully have VPNs from the US to the UK using IPSec/AES between Vigors.
