Can't make SSL VPN connection from PC was created by systemcv
I can not make an SSL VPN connection from my W10 laptop to my Draytek Vigor 2860 using the Draytek Smart VPN utility (version 5.5.0)

It connects OK, sits at "Authenticate" for a while and then disconnects.

Using PPTP connects OK.

Putting the exact same data into the Smart VPN appon my Android Phone works OK with SSL, which would indicate that the router end is correct.

Setting up a hotspot on the phone and connecting the laptop to it (so it is using the same connectivity) still fails. So I am guessing it is something either with the laptop or with W10

Router is running 3.9.1 firmware.

Any ideas ?

I have just joined the forum with the same symptoms:

Vigor 2865ac with firmware 4.3.2.1

Set up SSL VPN; client installed on Windows 10. Intending to use OTP, but just using a plain password for testing.
VPN Client starts to connect, and hangs at "status: authenticate" for a while.
Then I get an error: "Timed out waiting for a valid response from the remote PPP peer"

Reply to self: I discovered I had another VPN client installed (from Checkpoint). I uninstalled this, rebooted, and I can now connect with the Draytek client. Now I have an IP/subnet conflict to fix but nearly there.

Figured it out by selectively de-actiivating things until it worked.

Turns out that Avast Firewall was set only to allow TCP/UDP traffic for the Smart VPN program.

Changed it to allow all and it can now connect OK
