I've fired that up but I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
I'll play with it for a while to familiarise myself with the messages.

I still haven't worked out what to look for in the syslog but I should point out that I have repeated this security breach with an Acer Aspire with a NetGear WG511 wireless NIC. If you use the NetGear utility, rather than Windows Zero Configuration, you can connect to the supposed encrypted 2820n wifi in the clear - no encryption key required.
I have told Draytek about this security hole but they won't accept it. Maybe someone else with a NetGear NIC might like to try the trick.

Syslog should show you the messages where the client security is negotiated, in the very few seconds as it connects.
