2820 Lower Wireless Signal Strength? was created by cavehogg
Hi all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to lower the wireless signal strength in the 2820 as you can with other router makes? I have searched through the settings but can't find anything. I am hoping I have just missed a setting somewhere.

Thanks

Yeah that's possible - there's quite a few interesting-ish commands in the telnet interface - if you enter: wl ht ?
That shows the commands available and the syntax for them.
You'd want to enter: wl ht txpower 1 (or 6?) to decrease the transmit power on it.

Thanks for your help, I will have a look. As it stands the power of the wifi signal is fantastic, a bit too good if you only want to keep it within one office area!

Cheers

As long as you have good security, the only problem with the signal being too strong would be for your neighbours.
