Ip to Mac Binding Schedule failed! was created by aartika
I bought this modem (Vigor 2830Vn) specifically because it has multiple SSIDs which, I was told by the Draytek techs, would allow me to set different time schedules for different SSIDs:
"Hello,
You can use a schedule and apply this to each ssid's.
Parents can use a different ssid to kids and this way you can
limited access by times of the day. This is supported on the vigor 2820
Regards,
DrayTek UK"
Great - a simple and automatic way to limit my kids internet access' while leaving the other SSIDs still connected for adults in the house.
With the option for four SSIDs, I planned to have one SSID for the younger children, and another for the sixth former who needs longer hours for internet study, and an always-on one for us parents.
Or so I thought.
However, this does not seem to be the case. Yes, I can schedule the Wireless Internet Connection to switch the internet off at certain times, but this applies to all four SSIDs - not what I need.
So - after a lot of digging around, I found the instructions to "Strong Bind" IP addresses to MAC addresses, and set up a schedule for the range of IP addresses for the kids' computers to disconnect at 9pm.
At last, I thought, I have the solution.
No - at 9pm, because all the computers were already connected, they remained connected, in spite of the rule I had set to shut them down at 9pm. I have had to go back to switching off the internet to all our computers that use the wireless connection.
So now I am back to square one.
Please - Draytek - tell me how to get this scheduling working properly, otherwise I will be sending this modem right back and going back to Netgear.

I have a 2920 but the menu is identical and this is what works for me...
Bind IP to MAC (as you have wisely done)
Firewall->General Setup
Data Filter = Enabled
Start Filter Set = Set2
Firewall->Filter Setup->Default Data Filter (next Filter Set, bottom right, None)->Filter Rule 2
Filter Rule 2 settings:
Enable
Name: internet Off
Index: 1,2
Clear Session Enabled
Direction LAN > WAN
Source IP = Range of kids IPs
Dest = Any
Serv = Any
Frag = Dont care
Filter = Block Immediately
Applications->Schedule->
Index 1 settings:
Enable
Start time: 00 00
Duration: 07 00
Action = Force On (though irrelevant here)
How Often = All weekdays ticked
Index 2 settings:
Enable
Start time: 22 00
Duration: 02 00
Action = Force On (though irrelevant here)
How Often = All weekdays ticked
I did find that the schedule cannot go past midnight. So I have one rule from 10pm until midnight. Another rule from midnight to 7am.
This blocks any traffic from LAN to WAN from 10pm until 7am for the address range of 192.168.1.50 to .79
I just tested it, as you made me think that maybe it didn't, and it works here.
If I run a continual ping to bbc.co.uk it drops as soon as the schedule kicks in.

Thanks for this. I had done the set up identically to yours, except that I had put "Force Down" instead of "Force On" in the scheduling, assuming that "Force Down" meant that the connection would be switched off.
So I'll try it again now using "Force On" instead.

Ok - I have just tested this on my own PC.
I had Frozen Planet running on the BBC iPlayer.
At the designated time, the iPlayer just continued to run, uninterrupted. i.e. once connected the schedule did not kick me off.
However it did prevent me loading any new webpages.
So it only half solves the problem - i.e. that if a connection is already established between the computer and an internet service such as iPlayer or on-line gaming, the schedule doesn't appear to work.

Have just noticed that I don't appear have the option "Clear Session" on my Edit Filter Rule page.
Is that what is causing this?
Firewall->General Setup
Data Filter = Enabled
Start Filter Set = Set2
Firewall->Filter Setup->Default Data Filter (next Filter Set, bottom right, None)->Filter Rule 2
Filter Rule 2 settings:
Enable

Are you using the latest firmware?
To be honest I am not sure what the clear sessions option does.
I have just tested it again. I ran a ping to bbc.co.uk and played Left 4 Dead 2 and it cut me off as per schedule and the ping dropped.
The BBC iplayer i would expect to continue for anywhere upto 5 minutes as it's cached.
