2860n-plus Wireless Issues. was created by fazzauk
Good morning all,
I seem to have have issues with a newly purcahsed 2860n-plus router I brought to replace my older 2920.
Very happy with it apart from the wireless issues I'm having.
I've obviously looked though the forum and have seen some recent posts mentioning the same thing. It brings me slight releif knowing that I may not have to send back for a warrently replacement and is more likley to be an issue with fimware. Instead of posting on the exisitng threads I thought I'd post again to try to gain more exposure to what seems to be a pretty major issue.
I am currently running firmware 3.7.4.1, but was also having issues with the previous 3.7.3 firmware (I think) that the unit was shipped with.
I notice the issue the most on Android and iOS devices. The devices will connect fine for 30-40 seconds or so and then the AP will become unresponsive for 10-20 seconds before kicking into action again, almost as if the wireless AP has reset - connectivity to the AP remains though during this time.
Funnily enough (and this could be a coincidence) a windows8.1 laptop has started to BSOD every so often with NETIO errors while connected to the wifi. I have not had such issues while directly hard-wired to the LAN.
I have tried all sorts of configurations (LAN, VLAN, DHCP, wiress band / channels...etcs) and also flashed the device with the current firmware again without keeping existing settings so I'm confident its not a configuration issue.
Can I ask what the best way to raise awareness to this issue is without calling the premium rate number? Do Draytek staff view this forum? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks. - Ian

Don't call the premium number if you mind about the phone bill, is the firmware because other users of this model mentioned issues ... draytek watching the forum but better open a ticket if will help to speed up any fix (may release how serious problem is) or if they have a beta to try
Here some links i remember but are few others

Afternoon All,
I thought you might be interested regarding my comms with Draytek so far. Seems most of you may be going though the same process.
Hopefully the devs are aware now. The more people that can go though this email exchange, the better.
Ta.

Thanks for your prompt reply again.
I have just reverted this morning and can confirm there are still issues.
Several users have reported the same issues in the Draytek forumhttp://forum.draytek.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=19
If you could raise the issue with the deva that would be great.
Thanks again.
From: DrayTek Support Dept.
Hello Ian,
Thanks for your email. Can you roll back the firmware to 3.7.3.3 it the connection is stable on this firmware then it could be an issue with 3.7.4.1 if it is i will check if this has already been reported to the developers and if not i will report it.
3.7.3.3 download link

Thanks for your quick reply.
I have just attempted both. I can confirm the issue still exists even when
switching to 20Mhz only.
Seems quite a few people on your UK forum have the same issue. Possible firmware issue?

Hello Ian,
Thanks for your email. Please try the following. Leave VLAN, DHCP etc all
set to default. Just apply the following
Wireless LAN >> General setup - Mode = Mixed B+G=N - Channel = 1 or 11
Wireless LAN >> Security - Mode = WPA2/PSK only
Then on the Router itself angle to 2 outer antennas at 45 Degrees and then
centre antenna vertically.
Then connect a wireless device to the the router and re test.
If it is still unstable then apply the following
Wireless LAN >> Advance setting - Channel bandwidth = 20Mhz

Hey Ian
FYI I have the same issue with my new 2860n+ delivered last week so I'm hoping its not a hardware issue. I replaced my faultless apple airport extreme (5th gen) with this router and was initially impressed with the performance, however I'm suffering dropouts from my SONOS systems and apple devices and I'm at the point where I'm almost forced to go back to the old kit for stability.
I'll try the suggested workarounds tonight and report back ASAP.
Thanks
Andy..

Hello Ian,
Thanks for your email. This is still being investigated to see if it is an issue. I cannot say when there will be any updates. If there is any firmware release you can find it here

I am sorry that i do not have any more information for you.

Good morning,
Do you have an update on this one?
Have the developers acknowledged the problem many people are having with wifi?
Thanks.
Ian.
