Hello.

Sorry if this has been covered before.

I have a Vigor 2860ac running firmware 3.8.2 (also tried 3.8.1) that shows full 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz reception but can get little to no throughput unless I'm right beside the router.
I am running TalkTalk ADSL (MTU 1432) and all the wired clients run fine.
I have gone through all the settings and tried upgraded antennas but nothing seems to make it work.
Only devices I use on wireless are Apple Iphones 5 & 6.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Alan

Have you checked for interference ?

Use the AP Discovery menu on both 2.4 and 5GHz to check what's seen in the vicinity and see if there are some better channels to choose. Try and be more than 4 channels away from other channels on 2.4Ghz. On 5Ghz just pick channels that aren't in use.

The AP Discovery will only show other 802.11 APs though. Things like DECT, fluorescent lights, wireless mice can cause interference but are more difficult to detect without specialist equipment.

Thanks Macavity

I can get reception in the room above but if I move in to any of the bedrooms (next room, stud walls and normal floors) I see full reception but no throughput.
Kinda annoying as I was moving from a Cisco 1131 AP which would work anywhere in the house or garden.
(moving from Cisco gear as its just too expensive to upgrade to get the throughput that VDSL offers)

Anyhow
on 2.4Ghz there are 10 networks on channel 1 and 4 on channel 6, mine auto sets me to 10 or 13 so I've set it to 11 to test.
on 5Ghz there is one network on channel 36, auto set me to 100, I've no set to 64 to test.

Update

Had my DOH! moment.
Think I've got down to the bottom of the issue

Under my LAN VLAN settings, my 4 SSIDs weren't assigned to any VLANs.
Since assigning them to a VLAN 1 & 2 (Guest VLAN) all seems to work with no issues.
Also changing the channels from Auto to Manual couldn't have hurt

All very strange because I wouldn't have thought I would have got an IP address if I wasn't assigned to a VLAN.
