Had issues with an AP802 today...to cut a long story short I found it can only be pinged and managed from the wireless not via the LAN port. Is that normal as it was really frustrating? AP was in AP mode (not mesh or repeater) and even factory reset it. It show in the router AP management interface but if I try and issue a reboot or firmware upgrade command it goes red/offline and comes back with the same uptimes status.

In a word "no".

Are you using VLANs?

Yes I do - I have the AP plugged into P4 on the router (v2862). Both the router & AP have two SSID with one having a VLAN tag of 50.

Just adding...I cannot ping or access the AP from any device on the LAN. From a laptop on the main office wireless I can ping the router and google DNS but not other devices on the LAN. I have checked the AP for wireless isolation etc but they are disabled on the main wireless.

I'm guessing you need to tick the "Enable Management VLAN" box @ "LAN >> General Setup", presumably, with "50" in the "VLAN ID" box.

The 50 VLAN is the guest network/wireless but the computers and laptops are on the VLAN 0 which is the main office LAN. I guess I can try allowing inter-LAN comms on the router and see if that makes a difference?
