I have many AP902 units 'out there'.
One of them I want to record the temperature using the Temper sensor and email me if it is high.
I just can't get the mail alert to send. Sniffing the traffic it looks like it tries to send the message without authenticating. I can't get it to work!

Does anyone have it working?

Do you mean the email notifications, in general, won’t send, or specifically the ones reporting temperature won’t send?

I have no AP902s but, I do have several AP903s and they all work fine for sending out the email alerts; via a local smtp server of course.
