Do you have the phones on the same LAN as your network, or do you seperate them ?

We have completely seperated them. We were lucky as this service was going into a new office development and we were re-cabling for Network and Comms so had the ability to keep the networks seperate.

There were pros and cons to this approach though - obviously the big pro being seperation of traffic. Also allowed us to go down the route of POE for the phones. On the other hand it meant cabling at the desktop was increased as we had to run two cables to the floor ports - for phone and PC instead of throughputting LAN to the PC from the phone. You will also have to think about management of the phones/IPPBX because seperating the network means there is no direct ability to call up the web management portals for the devices without static routing or connecting to the VOIP network direct.
