Vodafone E160X on 2820 was created by legal
I Have a Vodafone Top Up and Go mobile Broadband stick - the one just launched in december. It appears to be a Huawei Mobile Connect 3G Modem and shows as E160X - I am looking to use it purely as a back up to the adsl connection ie it is WAN2 on the usb port at front of the 2820.
The 2820 recognises it but there is simply no PPP connection!
3G is not really my area! - can anyone who has used Vodafone in any of its forms with the 2820 give me some config pointers please?

Hi Legal,
How are you trying to connect, which router you have ?
WAN >> Internet Access
WAN 2
PPP Client Mode Enable
SIM PIN code
Modem Initial String (Default:AT&FE0V1X1&D2&C1S0=0)
APN Name TYPE the APN NAME here and click on APPLY Button
Modem Dial String (Default:ATDT*99#)
PPP Username (Optional)
PPP Password (Optional)
Index(1-15) in Schedule Setup:
=> , , ,
Don't change anything else apart from selecting enable at the top and then typing your APN NAME For vodafone and then click APPLY button next to it ;
I hope it works for you, if not, then click on DEFAULTS on the same screen and start over.

Thanks Digerati - looks as if it may not be supported!, rather annoying as I thought from literature that Vodafone was supported but hadn't realised Vodac were supplying different modem sticks
I'm using the 2820 & using WAN 2 for the 3G connection - however I don't know what to put in APN Name field for vodafone? - can you help?
Thanks

No luck will try a few different settings, the modem stick works in a laptop so either a setting or compatibility issue

Have provided Draytek support with the E160X modem coding details as per their instructions, so hopefully it will be added shortly as it is the popular "cheap" PAYG pack that Vodac are currently selling :wink:
