OpenVPN Access server is a value-added package based on OpenVPN. While OpenVPN AS does support only particular Linux builds, OpenVPN (i.e., the open source software) will happily run on Windows Vista (or on Windows 2000, XP, 2003). You can run an OpenVPN server on Vista.

For proper Vista support, make sure you download and install the latest version 2.1 RC build - the 2.1 builds are pre-release, but I find them just as stable as the older 2.0.

Thanks for that.

So I'm not going completely mad then - not just yet ;-)

A day when you learn something is a day that's not wasted!! Thanks for the further input. I will try the recommended OpenVpn (next week) and let you know what happens.
