2820Vn and VigorAP 700 as repeater was created by ollyadmin
I have a large building, such that the 2820Vn is not sufficient on its own to provide full coverage.

I have got a VigorAP 700, and tried to set it up as a universal repeater to the 2820Vn to extedend the coverage.

Not had a lot of success.

Has anyone been successful in this area and could advise on settings for both 2820Vn and VigorAP 700 ?

I'm afraid I can't help, but I've also had great difficulty in getting an AP-700 to talk to my 2820Vn.

My 2820Vn can see my AP-700 when I go to AP Discovery, and my AP-700 also sees my 2820Vn.

My AP-700 even reports that it has successfully associated with my 2820Vn. But my 2820Vn does not show it in the Station List. This I find very confusing, since I was expecting the Station List to be able to show me WHY my AP-700 wasn't connected.

I've all but given up and am trying to decide whether to buy another AP-700 instead of trying to use it with my 2820Vn, or returning it altogether.

Fork.

Did anyone resolve this one, im new so be gentle? Here is what i found.

You have to associate the AP 700 as a client on the 2820 first.

Begin by setting the AP 700 security to match the 2820. I used Channel 11 WPA both with the same SSID and password.

Then set the Ap 700's mode to station-infrastructure and make sure the SSID match and youve chosen the appropriate router from the site survey.

Save everything turn both 700 and 2820 off. Turn 2820 on and monitor the station status. turn the 700 on and watch the station status populate. It should now show as connected and be able to ping the 700 from the 2820.

I then simply changed the mode on 700 to universal repeater using the same channel and route AP SSID as the 2820 and that allows the 700 to repeat and boost the signal.

I have not yet tested it in other modes but would be interested if others have as i feel the WDS settings in the 2820 are a tad miss leading, at least i cannot get them to associate with the 700 at all!

Any feedback is welcome.

Hi,

Did anyone get this to work? I just bought a 2820n and AP-700 and I still can't get them to work together with the AP-700 in Universal Repeater mode.

The 2820n seems to be working fine, the computers connected to the 2820n either wired or wirelessly can all access each other and the internet.

The AP-700 is sat downstairs, connected to the 2820n wirelessly. I can ping the AP-700 and access it's web interface over the local network. The problem I have is that any device that connects wirelessly to the AP-700 cannot access in the internet. But accessing any of the machines inside the local network is fine.

I have the default gateway setting of the AP-700 set to the IP address of the 2820n.

Anybody have any idea where I'm going wrong? Or alternatively point me to some thorough instructions on how to set these two up in Universal Repeater mode?

I have tried the instructions above to no avail.

Cheers,

Nathan
