I also have a 2820 attached to Virgin's 50mb service and have no performance issues most of the time. Just tested at 45+ mb

I do have WAN1 disabled (via the the WAN/General Setup menu you can disable it)

De-activating ADSL services via the web interface will not completely stop the router to check for an ADSL line. You need to telnet in and deactivate with the command:

ADSL IDLE

once done you will see that the DSL light stops flasing. Unfortunately you have to redo this setting every time you reset the router. I wish these settings would remain after a rest.

I'm using Ukonline 8 meg on wan 1 and virgin cable 20 meg on wan2 no problems at all.
I did have slow speeds before but this was due to Virgin willing adding people to an oversubscribed UBR.
To confuse the issue sometimes connecting directly to modem sometimes resulted briefly a full speed connection.
