The attenuation will be different for each phone line, and although lower is better, only the line distance to your exchange will tell you what its supposed to be.

The signal to noise ratio is a trade off between sync speed and stability. 6db is the normal compromise. On a given line you can slow the sync speed to increase the snr or increase the sync speed to decrease the snr, the router will find which sync speed gives a snr of 6db

I am on the top Be service.
am getting 14,310,000 download and 2,261,000 upload.
SNR margin = 6
Loop Att. = 29
The service is used hard 24/7/365, have to reboot on average once a week.

Regards
Carl.

These are my current stats (20mbit on o2) with a 2820Vn:
Code:
--------------------------- ATU-R Info (hw: annex A, f/w: annex A) ----------- Running Mode : ADSL2+(G.992.5) State : SHOWTIME DS Actual Rate : 19008000 bps US Actual Rate : 1209000 bps DS Attainable Rate : 18404000 bps US Attainable Rate : 1209000 bps DS Path Mode : Fast US Path Mode : Fast DS Interleave Depth : 352 US Interleave Depth : 1 NE Current Attenuation : 16 dB Cur SNR Margin : 5 dB DS actual PSD : 14. 2 dB US actual PSD : 12. 2 dB ADSL Firmware Version : 232201_A -------------------------------- ATU-C Info --------------------------------- Far Current Attenuation : 3 dB Far SNR Margin : 6 dB CO ITU Version[0] : 00004244 CO ITU Version[1] : 0000434d DSLAM CHIPSET VENDOR : < BDCM >

I find this stable and can't recall the last time the line dropped sync (System Uptime:1393:11:56 and adsl1 is the same).
