how do I display how the vigor is mapped in w7
public (192.168.1.1(vigor2710n samba server)) is a network location
attempting to map network drive tells me its already mapped, using alternative user tells me to drop all mappings and retry...
we're getting there,slowly

\\192.168.1.1\sharename should always bring it up

wed 1237 after much searching - I have the w7 bible and its big...I found on microsoft support site
Windows > Windows Forums > Windows 7 Forums > Windows 7 Security, Privacy, and User Accounts > I can't map a network drive from Windows 7, using the exact same settings that work fine with Vista or XP
looks exactly the same problem...

yes, not made any difference ..I'm now following the various avenues suggested on the microsoft forum referred to above...interesting the use of virtual xp to get around it......
I suppose I could live with it as I can use the share folder...but its an interesting problem which dont come up very often and I'm learning more about w7 each day albeit the obscure bits.
