ok there is a "service name" field in the PPoE options which is supposed to be "Optional" which I had an entry written in it with a description of the adsl line. when I left that box blank the connection came up...

So Im not sure exactly what that "service name box is used for. I just assumed it was there for a informative description of the service to make life easier...

Me too :)

Good to know you've got it up and running, you can spend the rest of the day playing with all the options now.

This caused me a problem and leaving them blank solved it

yep took it out and it looks like the connection is up and all the DNS fileds have been propagated.

I cant get out onto the Internet despite the connection showing as up and all the DNS entries are showing up.....

I have left the "optional" default gateway blank since my ISP's default gateway changes all the time

I wondered if the firewall feature would automatically block anything as default ?

Where is this? on the PPPoE setup screen there is no option to add a gateway.

Take a look here http://www.draytek.com/user/SupportAppnotes.php?Id=83 - there may be something there to help you.

NOt quite there yet... I cant get out onto the net or ping any external Ip's

8 in total 5 usable (one of them is down as the "router address")

I know network address is x.x.x.8 /29

First usable x.x.x.9
Last usable x.x.x.13

Router address x.x.x.14

The broadcast is x.x.x.15

(Im not sure why they have mentioned the x.x.x.14 when that just another host address in the range. cpould this be the address I need as the default gateway ?)

Also I should mention when I asked my ISP about the Default gateway problem they said that it changes dynamically each time you connect etc which is obvious but.....

what I think is important here is that support told me they use "IP Un-numbered"

So the problem is deriving the Default gateway IP out of this range....
