Setup Vigor 2820 & Vigor 120 was created by boudewijn
Hello,
Connected the Vigor 120 today. Easy enough, but the little green Internet light hasn't come on. Furthermore, it is said that 192.168.2.1 would give access to the VG120 setup.

Have I done something wrong / Am I missing something?
Apart from enabling WAN2 and entering username/password, is there anything else that need to be done with the 2820?

Any info much appreciated

what ISP is the 120 connected to?

I've found that to access the 120 (to change settings or whatever) you have to be plugged directly into it rather than through the 2820

Hello,

Thanks for your response. Much appreciated.
The provider for the V120 is BT. Connecting the V120 to the computer, without the 2820 works for accessing the V120's setup page.

Would giving the V120 an IP no in the 192.168 1.xxx range, but outside the V 2820 standard pool be a solution/ to gain access to the V120 via the 2820

Connecting the Vv120 via the router, synchronises ok, but givens me still no Internet access (Internet light on the V120 off!). Why?

Boudewijn

I'm not sure that trying to give it a fixed IP address will help.
If the internet light is not on then it won't matter what you do.

if you plug the phone line directly into the 2820 instead of the 120 does the 2820 synchronize? Can you browse?

When was the line activated that you're trying?

Hello,

Giving it another IP address indeed doesn't help.
Bypasing the V120 and plug ging it into the 2828 works fine.
Line was activated about a week ago

The internet LED on the 120 won't come on - DrayTek have admitted it is a bug. You can check your internet status on the 2820 itself - just look at the WAN2 status.

If you want to be able to manage your 120 when it is connected to the 2820, do the following:

1. First, connect it directly to a computer and give it a fixed IP address in the 2820's subnet (outside of the 2820's DHCP range).

2. Now connect it to a LAN port on the 2820.

3. Connect a patch (Ethernet) cable from another LAN port on the 2820 to the 2820's WAN2 port.

Now you can manage the 120 from your computer, using the fixed IP address you gave it in 1.
