HELP PLEASE - Keep losing DNS!!!!! was created by robster
Hi
I have had my 2820 for a couple of weeks now and it has been working flawlessly.
However over the last couple of days, I have noticed in the morning I cannot reach my normal websites, rebooting 2820 restored normal service.
So I changed the DNS to Googles 8.8.8.8 but now I have lost DNS 4 times in the space of an hour or so!
I appear to still be connected to the internet, as some downloads from work, are still downloading fine.
PLEASE HELP, I am at a loss as to what to do.

I have now disconnected and gone back to my old router which keeps rebooting but at least is more reliable than the Draytek right now!
I downloaded and installed the VERY LATEST version for the 2820 2 weeks ago, as it is currently not connected I cannot tell you what that is.
It WAS working perfectly without a hiccup for 50 plus hours now it wont hold a DNS, I am assuming it is DNS for more than 5-10 minutes!
I have tried 2-3 different DNS servers and going back to BT by removing the force DNS option, although I noticed when I did this it was still picking up thee Google DNS servers!

Well it certainly appears the problem is with the 2820.
My old Belkin Router so far has not hiccuped and it has been on for an hour or more.
The 2820 was rebooted every 5 or so minutes this morning.

Get syslog from the router so that you can see what's happening but also check whether you've got DoS defense enabled under the Firewall menu - if you've got UDP flood control that can cause what you're seeing so try disabling that and see if it improves things.

Hi Voodie
I am having real trouble getting Syslog on my Mac!
Even tried running Windows syslog on XP under VMware but this has not worked either!
However I DO have full Firewall and DoS enabled including UDP Flood control, I will try and disable and see if that improves things.
I am puzzled though why it was working perfectly for nearly two weeks and then starting exhibiting these problems.
