Draytek 2850n & Talktalk was created by jmutton
Hello there,
I've just recently purchased the 2850n to be used on my new Talktalk fibre however I'm having a few problems with it.
The only way that I could get it connected was to use MPoA, is that the correct way?
I'm also seeing frequent disconnects. When looking through the VDSL status page it does appear that I'm getting quite a few errors...
Here is a screenshot from the status page.
Model Name : Vigor2850n
Firmware Version : 3.6.6_232201
Build Date/Time : Nov 1 2013 15:40:19
Is that normal? Seems really high for only being connected for less then 10 minutes.
Could someone also explain to me what the difference is between the different firmware (modem codes)?
Am I best to use one of the other firmwares?
Thanks very much,
Jason

modem codes are for compatibility with the local dslam/exchange ... i am not sure if will make any difference for vdsl (fibre)
You can try annex A 2471201 or if you try any modem code of the annex B firmware may give you little better upload speed (not always working this annex B change of firmware with better upload but maybe worthed to try if you manage to make the 2850 stable)
It will not harm the unit because annexes does not matter for fibre(vdsl)
First make sure in the first place (before any changes of modem codes, the 3.6.6 firmware was updated with the *rst* file (*rst* will delete back to factory defaults the settings after the upgrade ... but try first without username & pass if will connect)
Try the steps below if will helps you
Go to WAN >> General Setup>wan 2 > enable: NO
WAN >> General Setup>wan 3 > enable NO
WAN >> General Setup >> wan 1 >>
enable: YES
diasplay name: TalkTalk Fibre
Dsl mode: VDSL only
VLAN Tag insertion (VDSL): enable
Tag value: 101
Active mode: ALWAYS ON
Go to WAN >> Internet Access >> wan 1
select MPoA / Static or Dynamic IP >>details page
set MTU 1492
at right page
obtain ip automatic (on top) ... if you have static ip then click specify an ip address and set the one from TT
(you may also need at DHCP for some isp's to set your on line account username & password so if is not connecting try next time, when you finish the current advise)
dns server you can set the ones for TT if you want instead of the google
don't forget to click enable top left & ok at the buttom of the page
Go at Bandwidth Management >> Quality of Service and untick Enable the First Priority for VoIP SIP/RTP and also make sure all QoS are inactive
Good luck

Hello,
Thanks for the reply.
What you mentioned in your reply is exactly how I had everything setup. Apart from my MTU value was 1500. I've now changed that to 1492.
I've also checked that all QoS is disabled/inactive.
Just now downloaded the Annex A 2471201 firmware to try.
Thanks,
Jason

What I can't understand is the amount of errors that are shown. Its only been connected for less then 10 minutes...

i have edit my post ...
Try at wan> internet access without password and username at DHCP for some isp's
if you have not set then try and with your online account username & pass
you can also try at VDSL setup page to tick the B43 only if will make any difference
well ...once you have set vlan tag 101, if will not work ... at released notes of the 3.6.6 firmware there is a note
http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/techquery
for the errors can not comment ... your snr is 6.4 up & 6.1 down maybe that is why (perhaps low) ... but i am sure the support should help better
