Globalview WCF subscription Pricing was created by kirton
Here's something to watch out for.

I have just upgraded from a 2820 to a 2860n+ with an AP-900.
I still had about 7 months to run on my Globalview WCF subscription.
Guess what! You cannot transfer the licence, you have to buy a new one!!

I feel ripped off!

Well, if you'd had new tyres fitted to your old car, and they still had 7 month's left in them, would you also feel 'ripped off' ? :-) As you've realised, the subscription is always for a specific router. It's hardly a 'rip off'. The new owner can still use the Globalview sub. They probably can transfer it, but I suspect the admin costs as much as a new licence. Globalview is remarkably good value IMHO as it covers unlimited clients on the LAN.

If a Router is sold as one that allows "stateful inspection", why should anyone have to pay for an extra license ?

Draytek documentation seems to be have been written by a chimp. e.g If you download the latest doco for a 2710, you will not find any reference to an extra license cost required for CSM !!!

For stateful inspection? You don't....

You clearly don't understand stateful inspection means... it has nothing to do with WCF.

....probably you're right. But you're clearly biased too.

Quote....

"Vigor 2710 series routers support SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall, which uses a new
DrayTek object-based firewall to allow more setup flexibility than ever, enabling you to
create combinations of users, rules and restrictions to suit multi-departmental organizations.
The CSM (Content Security Management) feature allows more precise and efficient access
control for URL/Web Content Filtering, IM (Instant Messenger) and P2P (Peer to Peer)
application"

..now to an uneducated user ( to which group you clearly do not belong ), this might tempt someone into buying the router, might it not ?

No mention of extra cost, even in the section dedicated to CSM.
