Vigor 2866 VDSL Sync Performance was created by simonh
Hi

Have just replaced a 2860 for a 2866 and the VDSL sync rate is much lower...

Before, on the 2866, I had about 55mb/s with SNR of about 3db... Now the SNR is about 6db and sync is about 40mb/s. This is very disappointing as you can imagine for an expensive router...

Anyone else with a 2866 (or indeed a 2865) noticed this? It's very annoying!

Thanks

If the SNR has gone up, this is due to DSLAM equipment acting on a disconnection/disconnections.

After a period of stability, you should see your SNR drop to 3dB and speeds back to where they were.

Alternatively, you can force Draytek to sync at 3dB, effectively making your speed go up again; there are a number of guides online on how to do it.

Hi, thanks... That's interesting. I didn't realise the router had the power to override the DSLAM! I thought the DSLAM had the ultimate say!

Will give that a go

Thanks
Simon

FYI... Forcing it didn't work. I think there is something up with the modem code in the 2866... It was fine on the 2860... 4.4.2 due out very soon, so will see what happens. My line is rock solid stable, just 30mb/s now instead of 45 to 50 which is what it was before I put in the 2866!

Very frustrating

Not all DSLAM equipment allows user intervention of SNR. Mine does.

It'd be helpful if you posted your stats.

I am now testing beta firmware with a different modem code... Now the speed is the same, but the SNR is now up to 8... On the 2860 it was 3 and my sync speed was much higher! You can see my actual rate vs attainable! This is my issue... On the 2860 I was getting closer to 50mb/s on 3db SNR, now I am getting 30mb/s on 8db SNR!
