Hi

Ok went on site and installed log me in on both the out station and the head office.

Followed the instructions as in:

http://www.draytek.com/user/SupportAppnotesDetail.php?ID=154

Only bits I wasn't sure about was the section :

specify remote VPN Gateway - I used the external IP (found from whatsmyip.com) of the outstation

and "server IP/host name for VPN - I used the IP of the headoffice.

I pressed the button to select an IKE pre share key and typed in a long word twice the box was then populated with asterixsss. Used the same word at the other end.

Went into management at both head office and outstation and no connection is shown.

I'm now going insane ;-)

Any ideas?

thanks

Ian

Hi

found the diagnostics ping and from either end I cannot ping the external Internet IP address (from whats my ip) or the ip addresses of the routers ie 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1.

Only firewalls are the ones on the routers do I have to disable them

hey ho isn't life fun

Ian

You can't disable the firewall on the router. If the connection does not show as connected in the VPN Connection Management menu then you have no VPN. You need to get that working first.

Do you have IPSec enabled in the Remote Access Control?

What is your network setup? Are your WAN IP's static or dynamic?

2900Gi/v2.5.6; 2900/v2.5.6

Can anyone confirm this is correct? Makes sense to me, and that's the way i've gone.

Only specify the remote gateway if it has a fixed IP. If it does not have a fixed IP you should put your own PSK into VPN and Remote Access > IPSec General Setup. It does not matter which one you use initially, but if the remote IP changes you are knackered if you have gone down the route of specifying the remote gateway.

What have you done in the following sections:

VPN and Remote Access > Remote Access Control
VPN and Remote Access > IPSec General Setup
VPN and Remote Access > LAN To LAN

for both the local and remote ends?

2900Gi/v2.5.6; 2900/v2.5.6

Hi

would like to come over all clever and wonderfull but credit where credits due.... emailed support and Andrew ( what a nice person) logged on remotely and corrected my error ;-(.

Vpn now working and the two networks are now talking.

Anyone know Andrews address? like to send him some hate mail ;-)

Have to say on a serious note I'm a convert to Dratek this forum and the support is much better than the Belkin, Netgear stuff,

If anyone wants needs a copy of my settings let me know as being a devout coward I've screen captured the settings

cheers

Ian
