I also have this problem. L2TP connects ok but I can't even ping anything on my network. PPTP works fine though.

Me too! Suffering all the above with L2TP/IPSec. Is there an alternative that is almost as secure until the Oct release? Not fully sure of the best way to connect a vpn.

Couldn't you just put a manual entry in your hosts file in the meantime?

Good idea, hadn't thought to do this.
Ideally i'd like to set the secondary DNS server to the internal one in the office, but if I set this then I also need to specify IP settings manually.
It really needs to be set to DHCP as each client can connect from any location.

I'd set the IP address and DNS manually until the issue is resolved, and load your hosts file with all the required shared devices IP addresses.
I'm no networking expert though, but to me this would seem like a suitable workaround in the meantime.
