No, I run
ClearOS
(a Linux distro) on a PC as my gateway. It has a built in PPTP server and Samba (which can act as a WINS server) among other things. I used to have a Draytek but this is miles better. I do have an IPSec VPN to a 2900 device in my mother's house. The 2600G I used to VPN into at my brother's house bit the dust earlier this year after one too many power spikes. I have not been able to get an IPSec connection to use NetBIOS, and neither of the remote ends have their own WINS servers so I cannot try connecting 2 WINS servers together. My in-laws use PPTP to connect to me.

Since AD I have to admit to ditching WINS and do everything with AD DNS. But it has its place! The PPTP you had success with - was that a Windows Server PPTP setup? Cause that i think has NetBIOS support right?lozstlouis wrote:
